Korea has been a beautiful dream! Just by reviewing our photos from our winter visit last year, I can feel that cold winter breeze and the unexpected tourist frenzy moments. I know this post has been long overdue (which I am sincerely apologetic about!). I'm sorry, blogging has been out of my mind for ages...but the good thing is I'm back at it soooo, let's celebrate! lol.
It's our 5th day in South Korea and we still wanted to explore more places. With this in mind, we visited four completely different locations which exhausted every ounce of energy we had for that day. We squeezed in one day to visit Gyeongbokgung Palace, Bukchon Hanok Village, Pocheon Art Valley (which is about 1 hr away from the City) and more shopping at Myeongdong.
The visit to Gyeongbokgung Palace was my second time but I haven't tried on these palace guard costumes so Robert, Ryan and I went to try it! The best thing about it? It's FREE! My bestfriend Shai was back at the Hostel still preparing for our day. She stayed back since she's been at the palace for three times already!
The Morning of our fifth day was spent at Gyeongbokgung Palace and Bukchon Hanok Village. These places are one train station apart, and it is always a must to visit these two spots together when in Seoul!
A selca for our palace guard costumes! Would we pass as palace guards in Joseon Era? LOL |
Met a Filipino couple and had our photo taken with them because why not?! |
Selfie with Ry while waiting for Memshie Rob to get dressed ;) |
The men went to have a look around the palace while I went to meet up with my bestfriend (in a secret cafe) hahaha. We didn't tell the boys about us eating here but they end up finding us! That moment crack me up. We were literally trying to hide from them so my bestfriend and I can catch up on everything we've missed out on while away from each other for months! Too bad, the boys are too keen on finding us because they happen to be hungry, too HAHAHHA! Food gets us all together <3
Lo and behold my bestfriend and our Authentic traditional Korean Vegetable Bibimbap! |
After our unexpected breakfast together, we went to Bukchon Hanok Village to tour the other two guys around. Shai and I have been here on our first visit but we don't mind coming back for the view. It just so happen that this time, the place has been packed with tourists so we didn't get to take enough good photos.
The best view of the Hanoks at Bukchon Hanok Village ;) |
The supposed to be quick visit to Bukchon Hanok Village took quite awhile because we enjoyed shopping at the stores on our way to village. They have the best souvenir shops! Not the cheapest we know but the quality of the items are quite good!
From the Hanok Village, we were contemplating on risking the chance of getting to Pocheon Art Valley before sunset because it's going to be different at night. We wanted to see it in daylight so since we didn't have enough days left, we risked it and it was one of the best decisions of the trip!
Pocheon Art Valley is an hour away from the City and this has been a shooting location for several Korean Dramas (the main reason my bestfriend and I wanted to see this so much!). Scarlet Heart Ryeo had a scene taken from this beautiful location.
Grabbed this photo of Pocheon Art Valley from my Bestie :) |
Looking at this view, I thought it could be a desktop wallpaper. LOL. Thanks Shai for this amazing shot! |
One of my favourite photos of this Winter 2016 trip in Korea! #bffGoals |
We stayed at the Valley for a few more hours, enjoying the scene as the sun sets. We just wanted to enjoy the last few nights of this trip. Coming to this Valley was a good decision! We had a few mishaps when we visited (aka lost wallet, lost mask, lost train ticket back hahahah) but it was all worth it because we got everything back. Koreans are very honest! You can literally find your stuff still intact where you left them.
Travelling back to the city was faster than we thought. We still had energy left to go do our last minute pasalubong shopping at Myeongdong. Before shopping, we had to recharge first so we went for another Korean BBQ feed at Myeondong.
The korean side dishes always amaze me. They taste so appropriate for the grilled meat it's like their meant to be devoured together. (Tip: when you go for korean bbq feed, side dishes are unlimited! you can ask for as many serving as you like)
Finally, a complete group photo for the day! |
Got one more post left, for this Winter Trip in Korea 2016! I can't believe how late I am for uploading this hahaha but I'm glad I've updated. This trip is definitely one for the books! The experiences, the countless "tourist" moments, the food and the good company have made this trip worth reminiscing. We are hoping to travel together again soon! Hopefully all the plans will be turned into actions very soon LOL.
